One of the biggest criticisms that I hear being a Republican woman is that the GOP doesn’t care about women. Every time I share my political affiliation, there is always some ill-informed liberal that screams in my face that Conservatives don’t care about women. I hear it all the time. For a party that is always shrieking about a women’s right to choose murder as a solution to ending a pregnancy, they sure don’t like a woman to choose her own values.
Despite the consistent criticism, I have always remained steadfast in standing by my values. Alongside my belief in my values, I also have faith in the women of the Republican party and the last 6 years has shown me that the GOP has plenty of room for women and their thoughts, expertise and opinions. I was once again reminded of this after watching and reading about the 2022 CPAC conference in Florida.
This year, there were numerous women speakers plus numerous women on panel discussions. Female speakers included Candace Owens, Mercedes Schlapp, Michele Tafoya, Senator Marsha Blackburn, and representative Lauren Boebert. Other notable female conservative figures included former US Ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, former President Trump Treasury Spokesperson Monica Crowley, Tulsi Gabbard, South Dakota’s current Governor Kristi Noem, and Kimberly Guilfoyle.
Not only where women given speaking spots but they were given prominent slots in the lineup. Tulsi Gabbard was given a high-profile speaking spot during the conference’s Ronald Reagan dinner. Despite not being a Republican, Gabbard was invited to speak at CPAC. The left is always screaming that conservatives aren’t trying to work with the other side and Gabbard was invited to speak.
She blasted Biden and made this poignant point and the Biden administration’s policies. She said it is hypocritical to “go to war to spread democracy and freedom while they actively work to undermine our democratic republic and our freedoms right here at home.”
Senator Marsha Blackburn was also a notable speaker at CPAC this year. The highly intelligent senator from Tennessee, she broke all the glass ceilings during her career in politics. She was Tennessee’s first female senator in November of 2018. During her CPAC speech she spoke passionately about the danger of implementing Critical Race Theory in schools. She made the point that CRT is a Marxist program and its sole goal to make every single thing about America racist. She spoke extensively about the importance of putting children first instead of focusing on woke politics.
Former President Trump Treasury spokesperson, Monica Crowley, was included on a panel alongside Representative Ronny Jackson and activist Jack Posobiec. As one of President Trump’s first supporters, she has become a leading voice in the conservative world. Crowley, whose history in politics goes back to President Richard Nixon, warned the crowd that that there is a high possibility that Michelle Obama might run in 2024. Crowley warned that this could be problematic for the GOP based on Obama’s popularity. Based on Monica Crowley’s extensive political knowledge, it is important that the GOP heed her warning.
I am a conservative woman who comes from a conservative family. I grew up respecting my country, my values, the military and the police. I have never waivered in my support of the GOP. More times than I can count, I am blasted for my beliefs. I am told a true woman would never support the GOP because the GOP doesn’t support women. I am so sick of the left telling me I am wrong. When I see the strong republican women at CPAC, I know that the GOP is the party for women that is being shaped by women. There is no limit to what a women can do in the Republican party.
